Fashion and interior design often overlap in trends, style and even color. We take a closer look at some of the amazing runway looks from the 2018 Milan Fashion Week and how they influence and inspire some of our own kitchen designs.
Gucci: Power in Design
From the Cruise 2018 runway, this Gucci Trompe l’oeil georgette gown has a mythical feel with the black sequin trompe l’oeil pleats and texture. The tassel (in allover crystals!) at the waist and has historic significance as a symbol of power.
The black, marble wet bar of our Highland Park Wet Bar is a pretty powerful room. We’ve added hard and soft design elements – just like the gown – with the sparkling backsplash, metallic light fixture, and concrete floor.
Trussardi: When Worlds Collide
The Trussardi Fall Winter 2018/19 Collection was dedicated to an urban gang caught between tradition and contemporary revolutions to show continuity between the two worlds.
Our Hyde Park kitchen was designed with that same philosophy in min – mixing two worlds that you wouldn’t expect to see together. Here we blended rustic elements like the Formica textured wood cabinets and island into this stark white, modern kitchen. A perfect balance of the two styles.
Versace: A New Take on an Old Classic
With this new collection, Versace blended together different eras and styles – like 80’s glamour – resulting in a play on the classics. The collection is full of bold, graphic prints and color.
Although it might not be bold or graphic, our Renovated Victorian Kitchen in Lakeview was influenced by the design sensibility of reviving a classic. This elegant kitchen was designed to fit into a real Victorian home and is our modern interpretation of this era.
